Every Season Under Christ

Mike Bell

Ecclesiastes 3:1–8 teaches that every season of life is governed by the sovereign hand of God. Beginning with Solomon's declaration that there is "a time for every matter under heaven," Pastor Mike emphasizes that life is not random or meaningless but unfolds according to God's wise purpose. Whether facing birth or death, joy or sorrow, gain or loss, believers can rest in the confidence that God rules over every circumstance and uses every season to shape His people into faithful disciples. The sermon contrasts the biblical worldview with the idea that life is governed by chance, arguing that only the sovereignty of God gives true meaning, hope, and purpose to human existence.

The remainder of the sermon walks through the contrasting seasons listed in Ecclesiastes 3, applying each to the Christian life. It encourages believers to embrace God's discipline, put sinful habits to death, endure seasons of sorrow with hope, rejoice with gratitude during seasons of blessing, cultivate wise relationships, and hold earthly possessions loosely. Throughout, the focus remains on trusting God's providence, recognizing that every season is temporary, and using every circumstance as an opportunity to glorify Christ and advance His kingdom. Pastor Mike concludes by reminding the congregation that while God sovereignly governs every season of life, He also calls His people to be faithful participants in His redemptive work in the world.
