CHURCH Leadership

At Christ Is King, we believe that Christ is the head of the church (Ephesians 1:22-23). The church belongs to Him, as He has purchased us with his blood (Acts 20:28). Christ governs His church (as well as all creation, and all of life) through His Word (Hebrews 1:1-2).

In His Word, Christ has outlined how a church should function with regards to it’s local leadership. Passages like 1 Timothy 2 & 3, Titus 1, 1 Peter 5, and Acts 20 give us particular instructions on who should lead in a church and how they are to serve.

We believe that only certain qualified men are able to fill the offices of Elder/Pastor and Deacon. This in no way diminishes the role women play in ministry. Our wives serve along side of us, but God has ordained that men carry the weight of responsibility as regards shepherding souls and preaching the Word.
