GIVE
GIVING IS PART OF OUR WORSHIP
Want to join us in our mission of preaching the gospel and making disciples? Your generosity enables us to help more and more people find new life in Jesus. We are truly grateful for your giving heart and hope the convenience, simplicity, and security of online giving will be helpful to you.
Financial giving can be divided into two categories: tithes and offerings. The Bible teaches us that we worship the Lord with our tithe, which is ten percent of our income contributed to the church on a regular basis. When we feel called to give over and above our tithe, we do so as an offering. At Christ Is King, we believe so strongly in our mission and giving that we contribute 10% of every dollar you give to world missions.
A GIVING HEART
The Bible has much to say about giving! About 25% of Jesus' words in the Gospels are devoted to teaching us how to wisely manage the resources God's entrusted to us. In the entire Bible, there are over 800 verses that guide us in worshipping God through stewardship.
Giving is recognizing that God owns everything! All that we have comes from him, and we don't really own anything; we are only stewards - overseers or managers - over things that belong to God.
Psalm 50:10-12: “For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine.”
Giving is being like God! By receiving God's free gift of salvation, we are born again with a new nature and a new spirit that increasingly desires to give to others like God has freely given to us.
John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should notperish but have eternal life."
Giving is trusting God! When we are generous and faithful in managing and giving our resources, we show that our trust is in God - that God, not our possessions, is the source of our life.
Matthew 6:19-21: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Giving is generous!
2 Corinthians 9:6: "The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully."
Giving is enthusiastic!
2 Corinthians 9:7: "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
Giving is discreet!
Matthew 6:3-4: "But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."
Giving is faith-filled!
Malachi 3:10: "Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need."
