A Family That Hopes in God
Mike Bell
Psalm 78 reminds us that every generation has a sacred responsibility to pass the truth of God's Word to the next. In this sermon, we explore Asaph's call for parents and families to faithfully proclaim God's mighty works so that their children and grandchildren will place their hope in the Lord. Rather than allowing the culture to shape the next generation, God commands His people to intentionally disciple their families by teaching His truth, living out their faith, and making Christ the center of the home.
This sermon challenges parents, especially fathers, to embrace their God-given calling as the primary disciplers of their children. More than simply enforcing rules or attending church, faithful parenting requires modeling a genuine love for Christ, explaining the "why" behind biblical convictions, and thinking beyond the present to future generations. As families consistently worship together, speak often of God's faithfulness, and prioritize His kingdom, they leave a legacy that endures long after they are gone, raising generations whose hope is firmly anchored in God.
