Genuine Repentance

Psalm 51 is one of Scripture's clearest pictures of genuine repentance. In this sermon, we examine David's response after his sin with Bathsheba is exposed and he is confronted by the prophet Nathan. Rather than excusing or minimizing his guilt, David humbles himself before God, confesses his sin, and throws himself upon the Lord's mercy. His example reminds us that repentance begins with an honest acknowledgment of our sin and a complete dependence on God's grace to forgive and restore.
This sermon follows the progression of repentance, renewal, and reformation. God not only forgives the repentant sinner but also creates a clean heart, restores the joy of salvation, and transforms a broken life into one that bears fruit for His kingdom. Ultimately, Psalm 51 points us to Jesus Christ, whose finished work on the cross makes true forgiveness, lasting renewal, and a life of faithful obedience possible.
