Lamb Of God (John Part 3)
Mike Bell
MAIN TEXT
John 1:6-34
THE WORLD IS LOST
The state of humanity was utter darkness without the light of Christ. John came to bear witness about this light! This light that shines in the darkness.
THE KING OF LIGHT
The light of Christ is bright enough to overcome the darkness of humanity.
The blood of Christ is good enough to atone for the sins of humanity.
THE LAMB OF GOD
Before Jesus became the conquering Lion of Judah through His resurrection, he became the sacrificial Lamb of God through His crucifixion.
3 things that this title embodies:
1. The lamb provides a sacrifice (Jesus’ blood)
2. The lamb provides a substitute (God brought the lamb)
3. The lamb provides satisfaction (justice for our sin)

MAIN TEXT
John 1:1-5
WHO IS JESUS?
Jesus wasn’t just a man who walked the earth, submitted to a divine God. Jesus was and is God. In fact, John makes it clear to us that Jesus always was—that He existed even before the world came into existence. Jesus is the eternal God—the Word Who became flesh and dwelt among us.
JESUS’ PRE-INCARNATE WORK
Jesus was involved in Creation. It’s important that we believe this. This shows us that everything He created was intentional and with a purpose. Nothing was an accident or mistake. This includes humanity—male and female. God has a very specific order to gender, marriage and the sanctity of life.
SALVATION THROUGH CHRIST
Jesus is not only the Creator of everything, He is also the savior of all humanity. He is the only One Who has the power to save us from our sin and wickedness. Through Jesus, we now have the light within us to walk in the midst of the darkness of this world, and still see clearly as we look to His Word.

I John 4:7-12
Love Is Of God—God Himself is the Origin of Love
1. Loving others shows that we’re born of God
This means we have a new nature—God’s nature. We’re not merely trying to mimic God’s nature. This is who we now are! Since God’s nature manifests love, we as His children should be reflecting the love of God.
2. Loving others shows that we know God
We Look to Jesus (God in the Flesh) for the True Definition of Love
We see true love in the life and death of Jesus.
1. Compassion—God sent Jesus because he desired to save us.
2. Self-Sacrifice—God sent Jesus to die for us.
Romans 5:8 - “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
God’s Love—What It Does for the Believer:
1. God’s love inspires us to love others.
2. The love we show to others brings God’s love to perfection through us—we who were once lost sinners, can now perfectly reflecting God’s love to the world.
