The Gospel Of John
The Gospel of john
As you read through The Gospel of John, you notice it's a little bit different than the other stories of Jesus. It's deeper. The way the story is conveyed evokes more emotion. The characters have more dimension. There's a reason for all this. John was Jesus' best friend. While John's Gospel is historically and theologically accurate, John simply isn't telling his story of Jesus a historian or a theologian. He's telling his story as a friend. A really good friend. A best friend.
John tells us why he wrote this story:
Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
John 20:30-31
John is telling you his story to convince you that Jesus is God and that by believing in Him, you can have eternal life. And that's our prayer too. As you study this Gospel and watch these sermons, our prayer is that you would see Jesus for who He is and celebrate what He's done for you.
