Jesus, The Lamb of God

Guest User

John 1:19-34

In this passage, we see John the Baptist enter the scene. John creates quite a stir! This wild man who ate locust and honey, announces the coming of the Lamb of God. John the Baptist made his message about Jesus, not him. He didn't care what people thought about him. He was humble, yet bold. Strange yet affective. Abrasive yet anointed.

John announced the One who would take away the sin of the world. Jesus, the Lamb of God, didn't just atone for sin, He took it away. In our witness, we must not lose the true message. The benefits of the message are great, but they are not the message itself. We put Jesus on the cross. We need the Lamb of God to take away our sin.

Jesus, The Eternal Word Became Flesh

John 1:1-18

Jesus came to this world as God in the flesh. We serve an eternal God that is so much bigger than we could possibly imagine. If you want to know God, know Jesus. Jesus IS God. Don't look to anything else to save you. We have the light and truth of Jesus. The eternal light of Jesus never runs out. Put your faith and hope in Him today.

John, Jesus' Best Friend

Guest User

A best friend sees you at your worst and still loves you. This kind of friend doesn't seek their own good, but yours. Jesus had a friend like that. John the Beloved, who wrote the Gospel of John, was that friend. Many of Jesus' friends betrayed him and doubted him. John was the only one who never left his side - even at the cross.

God's will for our life is that we become more like Him. Make it your goal this year, in 2015, to not put off daily time with Jesus. As we kick off the new year, some of us need to hit the reset button in our walk with God!

Lamentations 3:22-25 says, "The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 'The LORD is my portion,' says my soul, 'therefore I will hope in him.' The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him."

Shake It Off

In Acts 28, we see that Paul is shipwrecked. He and his fellow prisoners are able to swim to the shore of the island of Malta. As they arrive on land, the natives of the island begin to help the desperate castaways. Sitting around the bonfire on the shore, warming up, a snake attaches itself to Paul's hand. Paul's response? He shakes off the creature and suffers no harm! This left the natives amazed. They even called him a god! There are things ALL OF US need to shake off in 2015.

God With Us - Part 2

Jesus came to this earth in human flesh - to be with us and to experience the things we experience. Jesus knows what it's like to be tempted, rejected, abandoned, stabbed in the back. How do we cope with suffering/persecution? Pastor Matt gives three points:

1. Realize that we will endure suffering

Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. John 15:20

2. Realize that Jesus himself suffered

But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. Hebrews 2:9

3. Realize that eternity is our home

The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8:16-18
